Dave Brown become involved with acting until his sophomore year at the University of Winnipeg, where he was working towards his Bachelor of Education. Since then, he has successfully combined two careers, working continuously as a high school teacher and film and television actor.
He broke into the film and television business as a stunt driver, working for his friend and mentor Rick Skene out of Winnipeg. After landing a supporting role in CBC’s The Arrow and a recurring turn as Louis Riel Lefresne in the series My Life as a Dog, Dave moved to Toronto and was based there for the past 10 years until a recent move to Alberta.
Dave is best remembered as the “bullet-in-the-head” guy from the first X-men movie, but received some acclaim for his realistic portrayal of serial killer Gary Ridgeway in the A&E movie The Riverman. Dave can be seen as the well meaning Officer Hansen in the movie Charlie Bartlett starring Robert Downey Jr. and Hope Davis.
Dave is also a musician and singer/songwriter. His latest project was fronting the rock and roll band Weave Cleveland out of Toronto (named in honor of a man who fixed his guitar – www.myspace.com/weavecleveland). He has also released a Christmas record (The Dave Brown Cool Yule Explosion) and performed rhythm guitar for The Steamin’ Muskrats in Winnipeg during the 90s. His other labor of love was creating, writing and producing Sports Café Live, a talk show that mixes sports and comedy. He is an avid golfer and hockey player.
